Shoppy VS Shopney

For Shopify merchants interested in creating a mobile application, Shoppy and Shopney are two solid and competitive solutions.

Both offer specific tools and features, but differ in terms of customization, push notifications, customer support, and cost. Let’s look at the details to better understand which platform best fits your business needs by analyzing :

  • Mobile App
  • Design and customization
  • Push Notifications
  • Integrations
  • Support
  • Pricing

Mobile App Design

The user experience offered by Shoppy and Shopney differs in fluidity and responsiveness, key elements in meeting the expectations of end customers.

Shoppy, developed in Flutter, offers a very smooth and consistent user experience across iOS and Android devices, with transitions and animations unique to a native app. This results in intuitive and responsive navigation, ideal for increasing conversions and reducing abandonments.

Shopney, based on React Native, enables rapid and manageable multidevice development, but with potential trade-offs on smooth transitions in complex animation situations.

In summary, Shoppy focuses on maximum visual uniformity and responsiveness, while Shopney favors simpler handling at the expense of a slight difference in interface performance

Mobile App Design

Both platforms offer an admin dashboard that enables real-time design customization, let’s analyze the main areas:

  • Menu and Navigation: The type of menu proposed has a major impact on the User Experience. Shoppy uses a tab-bar that offers immediate navigation and allows users to access the various sections without having to open a menu each time, an effective solution for all screen sizes.
Shopney, on the other hand, proposes the hamburger menu by default, which hides the main sections behind an icon (☰), requiring an extra action to access them, while the tab bar is not available in the entry-level plan.
  • Widgets: Both platforms offer several key widgets, such as product carousels, promotional banners, and review sections, ideal for creating a dynamic and engaging homepage. Shopney also adds extra widgets, such as a quick link to the loyalty program and a “recently viewed products” section, but these are only available on the top floors.
In terms of UI customization, both platforms allow users to edit margins, borders and corners, choose the orientation of images (square, vertical or horizontal) and add spacers between elements, with different options for separation style (linear, zigzag, etc.).
In terms of content scheduling, both allow you to schedule widgets to handle promotions or seasonal updates automatically. However, Shoppy stands out because of its geo-location feature, which allows you to create custom content for each market, providing a tailored experience for users in different countries. This option allows for market-specific versions of the app, enhancing the user experience based on location.
  • Pages: “Pages” are content sections that merchants can add to their Shoppy app to extend its functionality and offer a richer, more personalized customer experience. Three types of “pages” are available-Content Pages, Web View, and Developer Pages-each of which allows specific content and tools to be integrated according to the needs of the business.
    • 1- Web View: allows content from external web pages, such as a store locator or a returns section (we see it used several times to show Rever), to be integrated into the app, creating a smooth experience without making the user leave the app.
    • 2- Content Pages: allows you to create content pages within the app, such as policy (return, shipping, terms, etc..) or content pages (“about,” “behind the scenes,” “cookbook,” etc..), enriching customer interaction.
    • 3- Developer Pages: is an advanced option that allows merchants to integrate external applications and add custom functionality via code. For example, a merchant could integrate an app for a loyalty system not available in the standard options to create an experience tailored to their needs.
  • Builder PDP : Both Shopney and Shoppy offer customization options for product pages, but with different approaches. Shopney focuses primarily on preset templates and options, while Shoppy provides a much more flexible PDP builder. With Shoppy’s builder, merchants can design the product page in great detail.

Push Notifications

Shoppy and Shopney offer push notifications without sending limits and support segmentation.

Both use AI to facilitate the creation of notifications. However, Shoppy offers flow notifications, which allow Merchants to configure an automatic series of notifications that trigger sequentially based on specific events, such as an abandoned cart or an incomplete transaction. In contrast, Shopney’s automations focus on sending one-time notifications, not allowing Merchants to create push notification drips for themselves.

In addition, Shoppy allows notifications to be further personalized by including the user’s name, creating a more personal connection with the customer.

Integrations

Both platforms support numerous integrations, allowing merchants to easily connect the mobile app to plug-ins used on their e-commerce. Features such as search filters, loyalty programs, shipping and returns management, reviews, media and live streaming are widely available on both Shoppy and Shopney.
With the European market in mind, Shoppy offers specific integrations such as App Omnibus and Cookie Policy to ensure compliance with local regulations. It also supports Shopify Bundle and Shopify’s New Customer Account, adding B2B options for e-commerce and mobile sellers.
Shopney, on the other hand, with 29 integrations, offers solutions that are more responsive to the needs of non-EU markets.
Not to be forgotten, Shoppy, thanks to its Developer Page, offers merchants the possibility of integrating apps not yet natively integrated on the platform to meet specific needs.

Support

Both platforms offer clients on the higher floors support from design and implementation specialists, who help merchants with the creation of their app.

In addition, Shoppy allows Enterprise plan customers to work directly with the tech team to customize the interface, develop new widgets, and integrate third-party solutions, bringing the service to a more attractive consultative approach for Brands and Retail with specific needs and high volumes.

Pricing

Shoppy and Shopney prices are similar and are based on a monthly (or annual) subscription model, with no up-front costs.

Shoppy offers competitive plans: Seed ($110/month), Grow ($225/month), Bloom ($565/month), and Plus ($999/month), with a success fee on in-app transacted – 2%, 1.5%, 1%, and 0.65%, respectively. This choice makes it possible to keep the base cost more affordable, with the option to pay only based on results achieved, thus offering merchants a quality, success-oriented product.

Shopney offers plans starting from $149/month (Silver Plan), $299/month (Gold Plan), $999/month (Platinum Plan) up to $1,299/month (Enterprise Plan), with no success fee charged.
